Whitby Sea Festival 'Song for the Sea' Competition

Are you an established or budding songwriter? Whitby Sea Festival invites entries for this years 'song for the sea' competition. In the last few years it has produced fine winners among which are Jim Radfords' Merchant Seaman' and 'Shores of Normandy', Wendy Arrowsmiths 'Sleep Well Till Morning', and Penni McLaren Walker's 'Song of the Fisherman'.

This year's competition takes place on Sunday 16th July. Our competition is open to ALL day or weekend Festival ticket holders and booked performers. Please see Programme for time of competition or email richardgrainger@gmx.co.uk

All songs will be performed LIVE acoustic . The judges are usually a panel of 4 and all hand picked folk who'll give your song a sympathetic hearing. The panel always includes at least one experienced songwriter and represents a broad musical taste. 50 prize for winning song.

Once you have purchased your ticket online submit the entry by email along with your booking ref. and it will be added to the programme. A Song title and a brief description is sufficient at the first stage.
